Oil up in Asia as Middle East unrest spreads
Mon, Feb 28, 2011
AFP
SINGAPORE - Crude prices jumped in Asian trade Monday with New York futures again in sight of US$100 a barrel after unrest in the oil-rich Middle East broadened, analysts said.
Brent North Sea crude for delivery in April gained US$1.28 to US$113.42 per barrel while New York's main contract, light sweet crude for April delivery, rose US$1.66 to US$99.54 a barrel.
The New York contract for West Texas Intermediate oil had hit US$103.41 on Thursday, a level last seen in September 2008, and Brent came close to US$120 before Saudi Arabia assured markets that it was ready to boost supplies.
"The unrest in the Middle East and fears that the situation will worsen are still supporting oil prices despite news that Saudi Arabia will increase output," said Ong Yi Ling, investment analyst for Phillip Futures in Singapore.
Anti-government turmoil now convulsing Libya and much of the Middle East spread to Oman, another Gulf oil exporter, over the weekend with police shooting dead two demonstrators.
Major crude producer Iran on Sunday urged OPEC, especially Saudi Arabia, to refrain from any unilateral hike in oil output, saying current crude production was enough to meet any shortages arising over the unrest in Libya.
"There is no need for OPEC members to be hasty and take unilateral decisions" to raise output, Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi said of Saudi Arabia, when asked to comment on Riyadh's offer to compensate for any shortage.
Mirkazemi, the current president of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), said the oil cartel had so far not decided to hold any extraordinary session to discuss a raise in output.
Saudi Arabia, OPEC's largest producer of oil, pumps around 8.4 million barrels of oil per day and Iran is the cartel's second largest exporter. --AFP

North African Turmoil Could Rocket Crude to $220
By Matt Egan
Published February 23, 2011
FOX Business
If the turmoil paralyzing parts of the Middle East and North Africa brings oil production in Libya and Algeria to a standstill, it could cause crude oil to explode to $220 a barrel, derailing the global economic recovery.
According to a new report from Tokyo-based Nomura, a simultaneous production halt from embattled Libya and neighboring Algeria would reduce OPEC spare capacity to 2.1 million barrels a day and may cause crude to spike from about $97 a barrel today to $220 a barrel.
“The closest comparison is the 1990-1991 Gulf War,” the Nomura analysts, led by Michael Lo, wrote, saying crude prices leaped 70% in seven months when OPEC’s spare capacity was cut to just 1.8 million barrels a day during that conflict with oil-rich Iraq.
While the $220 figure may sound high, Nomura said it could be an underestimate as speculative oil traders who were not around during the Gulf War may exaggerate the surge during an oil production halt.
The turmoil in Algeria hasn't gotten nearly as much attention, but that government is also believed to be very vulnerable and recent protests have led the government there to lift its state of emergency.

Thousands protest against high food prices in Delhi
BBC: 23 February 2011 Last updated at 05:16 ET
Thousands of people have gathered in the Indian capital, Delhi, to take part in a rally to protest against rising food prices and unemployment.
A steady stream of protesters, carrying red flags, has been marching through the streets of central Delhi since early morning.
The rally has led to massive traffic jams in the city.
Trade unions who have called the rally say nearly 40,000 people will attend a meeting at the Ramlila grounds.
Thousands will then march to parliament, they say.
Security is tight across the city with thousands of policemen deployed at the rally ground and along the route of the march.
The protest has been organised by major trade unions, including the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and the Centre for Industrial Trade Union (CITU).
The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) - which is backed by the governing Congress party - is also supporting the strike saying it wants to remind the government about its commitments to the poor.
A CITU statement said workers from 19 states, thousands of women among them, were participating in the march.
Food inflation has been consistently rising in India, pushing up household budgets.
The cost of pulses, milk, wheat, rice and vegetables has gone up sharply. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said food prices are an "area of concern".

Globalists Seek To Hijack Middle East Revolution To Topple Iran
Paul Joseph Watson

February 21, 2011
While the current global revolt sweeping across the Middle East and North Africa is born out of a universal human cry for freedom, food security and a decent standard of living, it is important to understand that the global elite are waiting in the wings to exploit the chaos as an opportunity to re-order the geopolitical landscape in their image, particularly by exploiting the demonstrations as a vehicle through which to weaken and topple the Iranian government.
The primary reason why the US military-industrial complex and other western nations appear to be supporting revolutions which directly threaten the tenures of dictators loyal to them, Hosni Mubarak being a prime example, is that such consequences are a price worth paying if the number one target of the globalists -- Iran -- gets toppled in the process.
Prominent neo-con David Frum made this point clear in an article entitled America Can't Afford to Ignore the Chaos in Bahrain, writing, "Always and ever: Iran is the big play in the Middle East...Every regional decision has to be measured against the test: Is this moving us closer to—or further from—a positive change in the Iranian political system? That test should guide decisions about Bahrain, and about a lot more than Bahrain."
Similarly, the The New York Times' David Sanger highlighted the fact that it's in the interests of the US military-industrial complex to allow the revolutions to spread in order to weaken the stability of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
In an interview with National Public Radio, Sanger noted that the Obama administration was looking to exploit the protests to create, "an alternative narrative to Iran that the United States ought to make use of."
"It is in this context that we should understand why the Obama Administration, literally seven hours after Omar Soliman announced that Hosni Mubarak would step down as Egypt's President after all, called the White House press corps back in and, as Sanger put it, "all but urged the protestors" in Iran, such as they were, "to get out and do more". The Administration has clearly decided, as America's strategic position in the Middle East erodes before our eyes, to "push back" against the Islamic Republic, in multiple ways," write Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann Leverett.

The American Dream Cartoon
The world is in the mercy of America, if America falls the whole world is going to slip with it. This video is just an ice-breaker, understand the money powers in the world and you can help be part of the solution. I recommend one new to these facts to watch some of these documentaries just to scratch the surface; but, to go deeper you have to dig your own rabbit hole and take the red pill to understand.

The Elite Banker
Sir Montague William the 3rd and his views on the right of the global Elite
to control everyone's lives in a Brave New world. 'They' elite bankers, control all the worlds monetary supply From the IMF and World bank to the the Federal reserve and all central banks around the world. The average person never notices the man behind the curtain of almost all politicians around the world, but at least this video is a step towards opening up your mind and take over your freedom.
here is the transcript.
Hello, my name is Montague William 3rd
And what I will tell you may well sound absurd
But the less who believe it the better for me
For you see I'm in Banking and big industry
For many a year we have controlled your lives
While you all just struggle and suffer in strife
We created the things that you don't really need
Your sports cars and Fashions and Plasma TV's
I remember it clearly how all this begun
Family secrets from Father to Son
Inherited knowledge that gives me the edge
While you peasants, people lie sleeping at night in your beds
We control the money that controls your lives
Whilst you worship false idols and wouldn't think twice
Of selling your souls for a place in the sun
These things that won't matter when your time is done
But as long as they're there to control the masses
I just sit back and consider my assets
Safe in the knowledge that I have it all
While you common people are losing your jobs
You see I just hold you in utter contempt
But the smile on my face well it makes me exempt
For I have the weapon of global TV
Which gives us connection and invites empathy
You would really believe that we look out for you
While we Bankers and Brokers are only a few
But if you saw that then you'd take back the power
Hence daily terrors to make you all cower
The Panics the crashes the wars and the illness
That keep you from finding your Spiritual Wholeness
We rig the game and we buy out both sides
To keep you enslaved in your pitiful lives
So go out and work as your body clock fades
And when it's all over a few years from the grave
You'll look back on all this and just then you'll see
That your life was nothing, a mere fantasy
There are very few things that we don't now control
To have Lawyers and Police Force was always a goal
Doing our bidding as you march on the street
But they never realise they're only just sheep
For real power resides in the hands of a few
You voted for parties what more could you do
But what you don't know is they're one and the same
Old Gordon has passed good old David the reigns
And you'll follow the leader who was put there by you
But your blood it runs red while our blood runs blue
But you simply don't see its all part of the game
Another distraction like money and fame
Get ready for wars in the name of the free
Vaccinations for illness that will never be
The assault on your children's impressionable minds
And a micro chipped world, you'll put up no fight
Information suppression will keep you in toe
Depopulation of peasants was always our goal
But eugenics was not what we hoped it would be
Oh yes it was us that funded Nazis!
But as long as we own all the media too
What's really happening does not concern you
So just go on watching your plasma TV
And the world will be run by the ones you can't see
